There’s nothing like a stinky bathroom to put a damper on a long-awaited refreshing bath or shower after a long day. Even though a dirty bathroom is one of the main reasons for a stinky bathroom situation, that’s not always the case. Sometimes your bathroom may look spick-and-span but still have a funky smell.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way. You can easily give your bathroom those much-needed spa-like vibes and keep it fresh all day long without spending a lot of time or money. Here are a few helpful tips to make a bathroom smell good all the time.

Clean Frequently

Everyone wants a clean bathroom but no one wants to do the cleaning. Also, where’s the time? The trick to avoiding a huge cleanup job is to do it a little at a time using a cleaning schedule. A little cleaning every other day goes a long way in ensuring that your bathroom smells good all the time. Give your toilet a thorough scrub, wipe under the toilet seat, wash your bath mats, and wipe down your bathroom sink.

Open the Window

In unventilated spaces especially bathrooms, trapped moisture will cause mold or mildew which gives off a musky smell. Open your bathroom window for about 20 minutes right after a bath or shower to let the fresh air in and allow the moisture to escape. If your bathroom doesn’t have a window, keep the door open for 30 minutes or turn on your bathroom fan.

Use Detergent in the Toilet Tank

Using the toilet for its intended purpose can leave the bathroom stinky even though you flush it whenever you use it. Use your favorite pleasantly-scented detergent to keep the toilet and whole bathroom smelling good all the time. Pour about a cup of laundry detergent into the toilet tank. Whenever you flush the toilet, the scented water will flow into the bowl making the bathroom fragrant.

Keep Your Towels Dry

Humidity and moisture will make your damp towels and bathroom stinky. After taking a shower, hang your towels outside to dry or toss them in the dryer then hang them on a rack in the bathroom. If you don’t have a towel rack, fold them neatly but only if they are completely dry. Avoid piling up damp dirty towels anywhere in the house, especially the bathroom.

Use a Fragrance Diffuser

An essential oil fragrance diffuser can transport you to a luxury spa environment in your bathroom. Diffuse oils are great to use because they are safer than candles and they purify the air by removing fungi and bacteria. Some pleasant oil scents to consider include grapefruit, lavender, eucalyptus, and peppermint.

Making a bathroom smell good all the time is easy if you’re consistent. You can achieve this by cleaning your bathroom frequently, allowing ventilation, drying out your towels, using detergent in the toilet tank, and using a fragrance diffuser. You’ll be sure that any time you or a guest walks into the bathroom it smells fresh.
